Walking this Earth

EARTH DAY

I am blessed to say that I have traveled. I have seen much of the beauty of this world and I am privileged to say I have experienced this Earth. I ran on the beaches of South Africa, woke up with the sun over and over again on the majestic Croatian coast and dived among the fish in Adriatic sea.

I have listen to the silence of desert in Algeria, disappeared in the starry sky in the mountains of Peru, I have swam in the icy river Dart early in the morning before anyone is awake, inhaled the air of Nevada, felt the sand underneath of my feet in Greece, felt the cold winter breeze on my skin on top of the Alps and tasted the snowflakes melting in me.

And I have been changed by the jungle of the Amazon forever.

I have been touched by many human beings and diversity of our cultures on many occasions, walked the crowded streets of our cities, seen the richness and the poverty and felt the joys and sorrows of our humanity.

I have been blessed to have 4 legged companions, met the animal kingdom in its various forms, sensed the freedom of their spirits and been amazed by the incredible intelligence of the life around me.
I have felt the health and the sickness in my own body, the pleasure and the pain and the love in my heart. I have felt the never ending changes of our physicality and felt the blood running through my veins, ny chest expanding with the sweetness of my breath as my heart keeps on beating.
I have started belonging to this Earth much sooner than I became aware of it.

And I haven’t had enough.
So today, as every other day in my life, I try to be a bit more aware of it – aware of my body being the body of this Earth, of the majesty of Life within me, around me and in between. I try to remember that I am not separate from the Ground that I walk on, air that I breathe, water that I drink and the Sun that nourishes my entire being.

I try to grasp the experience of this Earth within me. And I wonder.. how does this living Earth experience (you and) me?
Happy Earth Day to all of us, may we have the time, the presence and the gift to see it and feel it all, to be a part of it consciously, with humility and with the deep knowledge we are a part of it.
